Just when you think a Cynthia Woolf book can't get any better IT DOES!!!! Book 1 in this new series is wonderful, and makes you want the second one to hurry and get done!!!Jason Talbot and his brothers are owners of a lumber company in Seattle. Jason is a widower with his son Billy. HIs wife died in childbirth. There was a big shortage of women, his workers are ready to walk if the don't get mail order brides. Along with his brothers Jason travels to Massachusetts to collect 100 in total mail order brides.Rachel Sawyer and Lucy Davison were friends that desperately needed to leave their lives. So they decided to sign up to be mail order brides. Rachel could not believe the reaction she had to Jason at the first meeting. The voyage was long, but not lonely for Jason and Rachel. There was a problem, Jason thought he was still in love with his dead wife and was being unfaithful. Rachel had to find a way to ngain the trust of Billy and his father. After arriving in Seattle a thief is among the brides and staff of the ship. Rare heirloom jewelry goes missing. A mystery that Rachel sunk her teeth into, not knowing that it will lead to bloodshed.
I fell in love with this book as soon as I started reading it. The idea of all those lumberjacks wanting and waiting on wives is a great idea. Jason is such an amazing character. He is hurt from his previous wife's death. Rachel comes in and sure they butt heads, but you can feel the connection between the two. They kept you on your toes with the banter back and forth and the issues of their day to day lives. The mystery in the book just provides that extra balance that every book needs. This has turned out to be one of my favorites so far. I cannot wait to read the rest of Cynthia Woolf's books in this series. I received an advanced copy of this book to review. This opinion is my true thoughts and feelings!
Enjoyed from the first page to the last. An amazing family. Rachel has so much spirit, loved that she stands up for herself and will not be intimidated by anyone. Keep solving mysteries.
Another Cynthia Woolf gem...romance, suspense, heart-tugging writing...luscious, real men to make your heart thump. I never tire of this author.
This was a good book, even though the ending was sort of predictable. With the introduction of some of the characters this should make a great series.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed this story, but really....some brothers own a logging operation on Bridal Vail Mountain' located near Seattle...the oldest brother named Jason aAnn two of his brothers go to New Bedford to get brides for the men of Seattle, on Captain Clancy's ship........uh....this all sounds likw a story I know.....yep Here Comes the Bride.... loved the TV show. Wish you did not have the overlap...the TV world created too many images for this book.having said this, when I could get pass it this book was good and I enjoyed the story. I am looking forward to more. I enjoyed the mystery aspect. One other thing there are no fireflies in Seattle to put in a jar. I have grown up here and I have relatives who have lived here since before the Seattle Fire of 1889. We have never seen a firefly.....Where would Billy get them since they are not here???"The bluest skies you ever seen are in Seattle and the hills the greenest green in Seattle..."
Seattle needed women as it was just a logging town really. Jason and his brothers, as owners, knew they had to bring women who were interested in getting married to Seattle or their male workforce threatened to leave and find work where they could marry and start a family.Jason had lost his wife when his son had been born ten years ago and he was not interested in marrying again. His four brothers however, were very interested so they had a sister who had ads put in newspapers for them and soon had 100 women ready to move. This book is definitely an HEA and and charming as you would expect. Of course Jason was a hunky lumberjack who changed his mind about marriage and then there was was a jewelry thief and the woman Jason was interested in fancied herself a detective which kept him busy. All in all, a charming clean romance that I enjoyed reading. An easy read and once started, I quickly finished....on to the next!
I did not enjoy this book at all. It felt like an inexperienced author wrote it. So many errors from missing words to misplaced punctuation. The way the author wrote this story made it very hard to enjoy. I read every day and this is probably the only negative review I have ever written.
